Attract Your Ideal Client By Focusing On Results – Part 1

by Crystal Parrett on August 4, 2010

One of the biggest mistakes small business owners make is that they tell people about what they do, instead of the results the client wants to receive. Why doesn’t that work to get clients? Well, people don’t necessarily want to know what you do, they want to know what RESULTS they’ll get, first and foremost!

Everyone (including you and me) is walking around thinking “What’s In It For ME?” So, when you start talking about what you do in terms of some boring process or describe what you do using a label (“I’m a Virtual Assistant” or “I’m a financial planner”) – the person you’re talking to is going to immediately tune you out, because you’re basically talking about yourself. You’re not talking about them or how you can help them get the results they’re looking for. And that’s not going to get you very many clients.

The main point is that it has to be about THEM, and that’s what will draw people to you. The more you can talk about them, their problems, and what solutions are out there for them, the more you’ll start getting people’s attention. And if you follow my tips on targeting your ideal client, your target market – you’ll be drawing attention from the right people for your business.

So how can you start focusing on results and talking about what your ideal clients really want to hear from you?  Well we’ll talk about that tomorrow. So stay tuned!

Have a great day!

It is funny that some times we do things by instinct. I always tell people who ask, that I help women over 40 years young, to remember to take care of themselves first. That is one of my favorite things to say because it makes a point and at the same time it is ambiguous enough that they usually ask “How does that work? Do you sell make up” And then I tell them more about what I hope women of my generation to achieve…etc.

Thanks for the tip. It is great to hear that I am doing something right.
